Community Service Inauguration of Adult literacy centre Rotary club Chandigarh uptown in association with SEWA Punjab set up an adult literacy Centre in Amb Sahib colony, SAS Nagar for providing basic education to the underprivileged women living in that area. The main objective of the program is to build basic reading, writing and numeracy skills among the women to enable them to participate confidently in household management, work related decisions, and community processes. The centre was inaugurated by AG Rotarian Amarjit Singh, who explained the importance of reading and writing through an interesting story. Books and stationery were provided to the women free of cost. They were motivated to make the best use of the opportunity and learn the basics of reading, writing, and maths. Community Service Free mega medical and mammography camp Rotary club, Chandigarh uptown and Rotary club Kalka Heritage successfully organised a free mega medical and mammography camp at Kalka Army station. Specialist doctors from Paras Hospital, Dr Agarwal, eye clinic and Garg dental clinic provided free consultation in the fields of ophthalmology, general medicine, orthopaedics and dentistry. Facility for ECG, testing, blood pressure, and sugar levels was also available. Free mammography was done by Amrit Cancer foundation. Mementos were presented to the doctors and army officers. Community Service Empowering girls through education Continuing our mission to provide support for education of girls from underprivileged families under Rotarian Rajneesh Kapoor, memorial scholarship, annual fees, books and stationery was provided for four such students who are taking admission in class 11 in government girls Senior secondary school, sector 15 Panchkula.
